Emergency Action Plans – 29 CFR 1910.38

Employees shall be trained upon hire in elements of the Emergency Action Plan and their responsibilities, and retraining is necessary if their responsibilities or the plan changes.

Fire Prevention Plans – 29 CFR 1910.39

Employees shall be trained upon hire in elements of the plan and their responsibilities.

Occupational Noise Exposure / Hearing Conservation Program – 29 CFR 1910.95

Employers are required to have a Hearing Conservation Program if employees are exposed to noise at or above an 8 hour Time Weighted Average of 85 decibels. Employees must be trained in the elements of the Hearing Conservation program prior to being exposed to noise and annually thereafter.

Personal Protective Equipment – 29 CFR 1910.132

If employers require certain personal protective equipment to be worn by their employees, then those employees must be trained in proper donning, doffing, and care of that PPE prior to beginning work. Retraining may be required if PPE changes or employees are observed not using PPE when required or using PPE improperly.

Respiratory Protection – 29 CFR 1910.134

Employers that require employees to use respirators must train those employees in proper use and limitations of respirators. Annual retraining is required and additional training may be required if improper use of respirators is observed.

Permit-required Confined Spaces – 29 CFR 1910.146

Employees that have active roles in confined space entries must be trained prior to initial assignment, whenever there is a change in operations, or a new hazard becomes present in a confined space. Certification of training is required, including employee name, signature of trainer, and date of training.

Lockout/Tagout – 29 CFR 1910.147

Employees that are required to perform service or maintenance on equipment that may need to be locked/tagged out must be trained in proper lockout/tagout procedures, and employees affected by equipment being locked/tagged out must be trained to recognize lockout/tagout devices. Retraining may be required if equipment or procedures change, and all lockout/tagout training must be kept current and be certified in writing.

First Aid – 29 CFR 1910.151

If no medical treatment facility is in near proximity to your workplace and you have decided to have employees provide emergency first aid, then those designated employees must be trained prior to responding to any emergency first aid situations.

Portable Fire Extinguisher – 29 CFR 1910.157

Employers that provide portable fire extinguishers in the workplace and expect employees to use the extinguishers in an emergency situation must provide initial training in the general principles of extinguisher use and associated hazards. Employees must receive at least annual training thereafter.

Servicing of Single Piece and Multi-Piece Rim Wheels – 29 CFR 1910.177

Facilities that service single or multi-piece rims must train employees in the hazards associated with multi-rim wheels and provide follow-up training as necessary to ensure employees maintain proficiency in their responsibilities.

Powered Industrial Trucks (Forklifts) – 29 CFR 1910.178

Any employee that may operate a forklift must be trained and evaluated prior to initial operation of that forklift. Retraining may be required if deficiencies are observed in operating safety or skills. Employees must be evaluated at least every three years and the evaluations need to be certified in writing.

Welding, Cutting, and Brazing – 29 CFR 1910.253

Employees shall be trained in safe operation of equipment prior to initial assignment.

Grain Handling Facilities – 29 CFR 1910.272

Employers must train employees working at grain handling facilities upon initial assignment, whenever job responsibilities change, and at least annually thereafter. Training shall include recognition and prevention of hazards associated with dust accumulations and ignition sources and other job-related hazards.

Electrical – 29 CFR 1910.332

Employees who may be at risk from electrical shock or exposed energized parts must receive classroom or on-the-job training.

Bloodborne Pathogens – 29 CFR 1910.1030

Employees with an exposure to bloodborne pathogens, such as first aid providers, must be trained initially in the hazards associated with bloodborne pathogens and annually thereafter.

Hazard Communication – 29 CFR 1910.1200

Workers with exposure to hazardous chemicals must be trained prior to being exposed to those chemicals, and additional training is required whenever a new chemical is introduced into the workplace.
