Hazardous Materials – 49 CFR 172.704
Every employee that has responsibilities relating to hazardous materials in transportation must receive general awareness training and function-specific training prior to beginning their duties. Employees must also receive security awareness and in-depth security training if their company is required to have a security plan.
Recurring training, testing, and certification is required every three (3) years.
Supervisor Reasonable Suspicion Alcohol & Drug Training
Supervisors of commercial motor vehicle drivers must be trained to determine if reasonable suspicion of drug or alcohol use is present to require a driver to undergo testing.
This training must consist of one hour of training on alcohol misuse and one hour of training on drug use. There is no recurrent training requirement.
